About Me

- Mike Burns
- Nags Head, NC, United States
- Windsurfing has ruled more than 1/2 my life. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about how it feels to fly across the water, fly through the air, or spin around in circles on my windsurf gear. So to help spread the stoke (and further give in to my addiction) I started this blog. I hope you find it entertaining and a place to go for some useful information.

New Boards
While we were in Bonaire my Joker bit the bullet. I've been eagerly anticipating the release of the 2010 Mistrals. But when I got home from Bonaire I got an e-mail that the Mistral boards have been delayed yet again. So without a board, I needed to look around. Luckily while My Joker was being repaired in Bonaire, it gave me the chance to try a bunch of different boards. For this year, I ordered up a pair of JP freestyle boards. the JP freestyle Pro 89, and Jp Freestyle Pro 98 should be arriving shortly. I'll be sure to post up my first impressions of each. They've got some mighty big shoes to fill as in my 20 years of windsurfing I've never been impressed as much by any other board than the 2009 Mistral Joker that these beauties will be replacing.

are you going to switch over to Neil Pryde while you're at it?
ReplyDeleteNot if I can help it. I love my North's. I wouldn't have switched to JP Either if Anders had his sh!t together. With this last delay on the boards I'm really wondering if they've even finished designing a freestyle board. So now that the JP boards are on the way, I'm very excited. Can't wait to try them out. Especially the 89 ltr with a solid 4.2. Should be sick!!!!
ReplyDeleteyea, I like the idea of an 89 ltr freestyle, that should be sick. The JP freestylewave is one of the top rated boards on the market, you didn't want one of those for West Meadow?
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking about the 78 ltr FSW or maybe the twinzer, but 2 new boards is enough for me for now. I wish I had the new boars now. Looks like tomorrow is going to blow upper 20s from the NE. I'll be at the training grounds all day long.
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous. I really miss west meadow right now. No serious wind here but I know it's coming.
ReplyDeleteWord on the street is to stay away from twin fins for onshore conditions unless they're specifically built for on-shore, otherwise they don't track very well. A quad would rock at west meadow!(but I havn't tried one yet)
Have fun out there!
so maybe the quad! Or maybe the Freestyle Wave! Or Maybe the Regular old Waveboard! I'm going to demo EVERYTHING in Hatteras next month.
